The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma presents the first ever Empty Bowls South, Hunger Awareness Dinner and Auction. All proceeds raised through this event will remain local and support the programs and projects of the Food Bank’s Southern Branch in McAlester throughout the year. For each dollar raised at Empty Bowls, the Food Bank can distribute the equivalent of four meals. The event, at the historic Aldridge Hotel in McAlester, includes dinner, complimentary beer and wine, a silent auction and raffle. Guests will receive a keepsake bowl, which serves as a reminder of the too many hungry Oklahomans. The Southern Branch serves the eight southern counties of the Food Bank’s service area which include: Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McIntosh, McCurtain, Pittsburg, and Pushmataha counties. Last year, the Food Bank provided over two million pounds of food to the 84 Partner Programs in their service area.
